Not often I find myself parked beside one of these.

Obviously we all know what this large, obscure French car from the 2000s is so I won’ t insult anybody by naming it.

Renault Vel Satis. Has  always been rare, very rare now. That it came from the era when Renault had significant quality problems doesn't help its case.

I remember Renault suggesting, somehow, t h a t t h i s c o n v e y a n c e was a w o r t h y descendant of the DS.

Weren’t only a few thousand of these made in right hand drive to begin with? I feel like these were rarely seen even while they were in production while I was living in the UK in 04-05.

That’s an interesting suggestion...

I haven’t seen one in ages and they were never common.

According to Wiki only about a thousand were ever sold in the UK an d sales elsewhere in the rhd world were probably fairly minute.

The Vel Satis: A car so quirky and French that even the quirkiest of French men and Frenchwomen didn’t even want it.

Honestly, I’d drive one. Partially because it’s a bit of a mad car to import while everyone else is importing Skylines and what have you, and also partially because it’s a big comfy cruiser, and I like that sort of thing.

They were available with the Nissan 3.5L V6 gasoline engine (VQ?). I imagine that makes it easier to service in Canada.
